Objectives:The project was carried out for
1). Coastal protection against storms; 2). Stabilizing accreting mudflats, and 3). Timber production. Followings were considered to fulfill the objectives:
Developing techniques for the effective afforest ion of coastal areas using mangroves. This was done in conjunction with the Bangladesh Forest Research Institute and the Plantation Trials Unit of the Forest Department. It involved determining when propagules were available, how they could be grown, nursery techniques, best planting season, best planting density, and monitoring planted areas for survival, volume, diseases etc.
